Safepoint’s journey began with its very first client—actually two businesses, both owned and directed by Andrew Farrell, or Andy as he prefers to be called. Andy is not only the driving force behind Bluepoint Marine Services Ltd and A E Farrell Ltd, but also the reason Safepoint has grown into a successful health & safety consultancy. Both businesses operate under Andy’s expert guidance, and their complementary nature enabled Safepoint to serve them with remarkable effectiveness.
Bluepoint Marine Services Ltd is renowned for its diverse range of marine offerings—if the work involves water, Bluepoint can probably do it. Meanwhile, A E Farrell Ltd is an established contractor based in the Northwest, specialising in the delivery of technical and structural engineering projects across Maritime, Industrial, Urban, and Agricultural sectors. Their collaborative relationship allowed Safepoint to tailor its approach, providing bespoke health & safety solutions to both businesses.
Safepoint’s primary engagement was at the Bluepoint site on South Ferry Quay in Liverpool, where it developed a comprehensive health & safety management system for the boat yard. This involved auditing and inspecting working practices, compiling risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), all of which remain integral to the business today. The goal was not just to maintain compliance, but to foster a culture of safety and responsibility throughout the organisation.
Working with A E Farrell Ltd required a different approach. Safepoint focused on ensuring every worker was set to operate safely, developing site-specific health & safety management systems that included Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) and safety records. These measures provided evidence that equipment was regularly inspected and safe for use. Safepoint also developed construction phase plans for operatives and conducted site audits to ensure the management systems were being implemented and the work progressed safely.
Health & Safety was integral not only for safeguarding operatives, but also for demonstrating to clients and stakeholders that projects would be executed safely and efficiently. This evidence of robust safety management proved invaluable for procurement, showing that Safepoint’s involvement ensured compliance and reliability.
It remains an honour for Safepoint to continue working alongside Bluepoint Marine Services Ltd and A E Farrell Ltd. The ongoing partnership is built on mutual commitment, loyalty, and a strong foundation of trust and friendship. Thanks to Andy Farrell’s vision and leadership, Safepoint has been able to deliver exceptional health & safety consultancy services, helping both businesses thrive.
