Introduction

Safepoint Professional Services Ltd is a specialist provider of fire risk assessments and compliance solutions. Autism Initiatives Charity supports individuals with autism through a range of supported living settings across the UK and Ireland. This case study explores Safepoint’s engagement with Autism Initiatives, focusing on their approach to fire safety, the challenges faced, and the outcomes achieved.

Initial Engagement

In 2022, Autism Initiatives Charity contacted Safepoint Professional Services Ltd to conduct a fire risk assessment at one of their supported living properties. The request arose following concerns about the previous provider’s assessment, which lacked detail and failed to address key compliance requirements. Autism Initiatives sought a more thorough and actionable review to ensure the safety of their residents and staff.

Assessment Process

Safepoint’s team began by visiting the property and carrying out a comprehensive site inspection. They met with the local manager to discuss operational practices and identify areas of risk. A detailed compliance review was undertaken, examining existing fire safety measures, documentation, and procedures. The process prioritised clarity and practical recommendations, enabling the charity to understand and address specific fire hazards.

Action Plan

Following the assessment, Safepoint produced a clear and concise action plan outlining remedial works required to achieve compliance. Each action was prioritised, with supporting guidance for implementation. This provided Autism Initiatives with a structured pathway to improve fire safety and meet regulatory standards.

Expansion of Scope

Impressed by the quality and clarity of Safepoint’s work, Autism Initiatives expanded the engagement, requesting fire risk assessments for all 155 properties across multiple locations. The scope included diverse settings, each with unique challenges and requirements. Safepoint was tasked with creating remedial action lists, enabling Autism Initiatives to track progress via bespoke spreadsheets, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.

Delivery and Outcomes

Safepoint delivered all assessments within tight deadlines, coordinating visits and documentation efficiently. Their tracking spreadsheets enabled property managers and compliance officers to monitor remedial actions and deadlines across the estate. The project was completed successfully, with clear evidence of improved compliance and safety standards.

Ongoing Partnership

Since 2022, Safepoint Professional Services Ltd has maintained an ongoing partnership with Autism Initiatives Charity. They continue to provide fire risk assessments for both new and existing premises, supporting the charity’s commitment to safeguarding persons supported and staff. The collaboration is marked by professionalism, responsiveness, and a shared focus on continuous improvement in fire safety.
