In September 2021, Adana Construction Ltd appointed Safepoint Professional Services Ltd as its Health & Safety Advisor and competent person. Since then, Safepoint has provided proactive, practical support across Adana’s construction sites—combining scheduled audits, robust RAMS reviews, management meetings, and policy updates. More recently, Safepoint scaled up to provide an on-site HSE team to support Adana’s work on the Shotton Paper Mill redevelopment in Deeside, North Wales—helping maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental management on a complex live project.

Client

Adana Construction Ltd is a civil engineering and groundworks business delivering packages such as substructures, drainage and external works. The company operates across multiple active construction sites, with a requirement for consistent, compliant and workable health & safety management.

Safepoint’s role

Safepoint was commissioned to act as Adana Construction Ltd.’s Health & Safety Advisor and the business’s competent person, providing ongoing support to help ensure legal compliance and strengthen site standards.

• Fortnightly site visits to each project, undertaking a full construction site audit.
• Auditing to Adana’s Health & Safety Management System, recording findings and agreeing actions with the site team.
• Review of Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) to confirm suitability for the works and alignment with site conditions.
• Site walkarounds to verify that operatives were working safely and in accordance with the RAMS they had signed on to.
• Senior management support, including attendance at Health & Safety meetings to review performance, trends and priorities.
• Annual review of Adana’s Health & Safety Policy to keep arrangements current and reflective of the business.

Project highlight: Shotton Paper Mill redevelopment (Deeside, North Wales)

Adana Construction Ltd has most recently been involved in the redevelopment of Shotton Paper Mill, completing a range of civil engineering packages including concrete frames, substructure, groundworks, drainage and external works.

To support delivery on a busy, multi-activity site, Safepoint was asked to provide an on-site HSE team at a ratio of 1:50. We sourced the required personnel and managed the team on site, providing both environmental and health & safety management support. This included advising the construction team, completing planned inspections and audits, and maintaining a visible HSE presence to support day-to-day decision-making.

Additional support: training and compliance

Safepoint also supported Adana operatives with UKATA asbestos awareness training, ensuring those who require refresher training each year can remain up to date and compliant.
